This warranty covers the following: 1. Mechanical Defects - This warranty covers significant mechanical defects that may arise within 90 days from the date of purchase. The coverage includes issues related to the boat's engine, transmission, and other critical mechanical components. 2. Repair or Replacement - If a defect covered by this warranty is found within the 90-day period, Mercury Bay Marine will, at its discretion, repair the defective part(s) or replace them at no cost to the buyer. Exclusions This warranty does not cover the following: Normal Wear and Tear - Any issues arising from the normal wear and tear of the boat or its components are not covered under this warranty. Misuse or Damage - Damage caused by misuse, improper operation, neglect, accidents, or modifications to the boat is excluded from coverage. Consumable Parts - Parts that are subject to regular maintenance and replacement, such as filters, belts, hoses, and batteries, are not covered. Cosmetic Issues - Cosmetic defects such as scratches, dents, or fading paint, are not included in this warranty. Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA) In addition to this warranty, all secondhand boats purchased from Mercury Bay Marine are covered by the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA). Under the CGA, you are guaranteed that the boat will: - Be of acceptable quality. - Be fit for the purpose for which it was sold. - Match the description provided by the dealer. Warranty Limitations This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser of the boat. The warranty does not cover boats used for commercial purposes unless explicitly stated in the purchase agreement. Making a Claim To make a claim under this warranty, please contact Mercury Bay Marine as soon as a defect is discovered. You may be required to bring the boat to our facility for inspection. We will assess the issue and determine whether it is covered under this warranty.  This is a full-time permanent position, offering hands-on technical variety, career growth, and a coastal lifestyle in one of New Zealand’s top marine destinations. What You'll Do *Service and repair Diesel and Petrol Inboard engines, Sterndrives, Outboards, (Mercury, MerCruiser systems, and others) *Diagnose faults in mechanical, electrical, fuel, and hydraulic systems *Install electronics, wiring, and accessories *Carry out pre-delivery inspections and sea trials *Mobile servicing (company vehicle provided for off-site jobs) *Maintain clean and safe workshop practices Key Responsibilities: *Detect and diagnose mechanical, electrical, fuel, and hydraulic faults. *Dismantle, remove, inspect, and reassemble engine assemblies and drive components. *Repair or replace worn/defective parts, referring to service manuals as needed. *Perform scheduled maintenance, system tune-ups, and sea trials. *Use computerised diagnostic tools for fault detection and testing. *Install marine electronics, accessories, wiring, and conduct pre-delivery inspections. *Perform mobile servicing as required, maintaining safe workshop practices. What We're Looking For Skills & Qualifications *NZQF Level 4 trade qualification in marine or mechanical engineering, OR at least 5 years of marine mechanical experience with combustion systems *Mercury-certified technician strongly preferred. MerCruiser and Jet Ski servicing experience highly valued. *Proficiency in diagnostics, hydraulics, electrical systems, and engine reassembly under pressure. *The ability to work safely and autonomously and in part of a team in a coastal workshop. *Competence with Mercury Sterndrive repairs *Owns basic tool kit required You'll need to be confident working under time constraints while still delivering meticulous, high-standard work.
