Full-time | 40+ hrs/week 70k - 85k -depending on experience
Mercury Certified + Jet Ski + MerCruiser experience valued

Mercury Bay Marine is seeking an experienced Marine Technician to join our expert team servicing outboards, sterndrives, and jet skis, primarily focused on Mercury and MerCruiser power systems.


This is a full-time permanent position, offering hands-on technical variety, career growth, and a coastal lifestyle in one of New Zealand’s top marine destinations.
What You'll Do
*Service and repair Diesel and Petrol Inboard engines, Sterndrives, Outboards, (Mercury, MerCruiser systems, and others)
*Diagnose faults in mechanical, electrical, fuel, and hydraulic systems
*Install electronics, wiring, and accessories
*Carry out pre-delivery inspections and sea trials
*Mobile servicing (company vehicle provided for off-site jobs)
*Maintain clean and safe workshop practices

Key Responsibilities:
*Detect and diagnose mechanical, electrical, fuel, and hydraulic faults.
*Dismantle, remove, inspect, and reassemble engine assemblies and drive components.
*Repair or replace worn/defective parts, referring to service manuals as needed.
*Perform scheduled maintenance, system tune-ups, and sea trials.
*Use computerised diagnostic tools for fault detection and testing.
*Install marine electronics, accessories, wiring, and conduct pre-delivery inspections.
*Perform mobile servicing as required, maintaining safe workshop practices.
What We're Looking For Skills & Qualifications
*NZQF Level 4 trade qualification in marine or mechanical engineering, OR at least 5 years of marine mechanical experience with combustion systems
*Mercury-certified technician strongly preferred. MerCruiser and Jet Ski servicing experience highly valued.
*Proficiency in diagnostics, hydraulics, electrical systems, and engine reassembly under pressure. *The ability to work safely and autonomously and in part of a team in a coastal workshop. *Competence with Mercury Sterndrive repairs
*Owns basic tool kit required
You'll need to be confident working under time constraints while still delivering meticulous, high-standard work. Full NZ driver's licence perfered.
